Began playing tennis at age six. Father, Randolph, is a food distrib-
utor; mother, Susan, is a housewife. Has one brother, Jason, and one sister,
Jennifer, who played at UCLA.
Turned pro in 1990 after graduating from Southern Methodist University
in Dallas with a business degree. Played from 1985-89 at SMU and was the
team's No. 1 and 2 singles player. Won over 50 singles matches as a senior.
Ranked in the top 25 in the country in six of eight junior years. Won
the Boys' 16s National Hardcourt Championships in 1983.
Favorite surface is hardcourt and enjoys Italian food and golf.
