    • Almost quit tennis in the summer of 2017 after struggling for many years, but his father encouraged him to keep fighting: "My dad told me that I can do it if I trust in myself. In the end, he was right. I said to him that I will play just two months more. I bought five racquets from the store and that's it. From there, I played better and won my first professional title. It was a surprise for me. And the next year, I got a wild card into the qualifying for the Masters 1000 in Rome and qualified. It was amazing because it was my first ATP Tour main draw."
    • Tattoo on wrist: 'L' for dad Leonardo, 'R' for mom Rosaria and 'M' for sister Martina. "I play for them. They are the reason I play tennis."
    • Other tattoos: Japanese symbol for 'family' on his back; the Italian word 'proteggile' which means 'protect them' on his arm; and the phrase 'a modo tuo' which means 'go your way' and is the name of an Italian song by one of his favourite groups Ligabue.
