  • Josef seemed to enjoy his best success in his home country of Canada as he was a five time participant in the Canadian Open doubles, losing to Fleming and McEnroe in the semi-finals of the 1982 event with Hall of Fame partner Ivan Lendl in three sets. He also qualified in 1981 for the singles, losing to Brad Drewett in two close sets. Staying on home soil in 1987, he was the doubles finalist at the Vancouver Challenger.

Elsewhere, he reached the quarter-finals of San Francisco (1982) and Munich (1983) with partner Mike Depalmer and twice played the doubles at Roland Garros (1980 and 1983), losing both times to Australian Open champion Mark Edmondson.
