    Year-by-Year Highlights:
    Began to play tennis at age five.
    Father, Richard, is a nuclear engineer; mother, Ilene; sisters, Lelisa
    and Melanie.
    Enjoyed an outstanding junior career before enrolling at Stanford Univ.
    in the fall of 1995. Entered the spring season as the No. 1 collegiate player
    in the country. Won the ITA All-American Championships in his first tourna-
    ment as a collegian. Won nine straight matches (four in the qualifying) en
    route to becoming the first qualifier and second freshman to win the title.
    As a junior in 1995, reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open juniors
    and advanced to the doubles final of the French Open juniors (w/Gimelstob).
    Also advanced to the doubles semifinals at the Australian Open juniors (w/
    Luke O'Donnell) and Wimbledon juniors (w/Gimelstob).
    Finished No. 4 in the final world junior doubles rankings and No. 20 in
    singles in 1995.
    In the national USTA rankings, finished No. 4 in 1994 (18s), No. 2 in
    1993 (16s), No. 11 in 1992 (16s) and No. 2 in 1991 (14s).
    Attended the Palmer Academy in Tampa, Fla. from February to September
    1995 before enrolling in Stanford. Personal coaches are John Hubbell and
    Jeff Arons.
    Enjoys to eat Belgian waffles for breakfast before he plays a match.
    Another superstition is wearing an old, lucky pair of underwear for a big
    match. Trademark is wearing a baseball cap backwards while playing tennis.
    Helped U.S. to the Sunshine Cup title in 1995 (d. Argentina 2-1) by
    teaming with Gimelstob in the decisive doubles match. It was the first U.S.
    team title at the event since 1984.
    Nicknames are Wally and Rhino.
