Residence: Charlotte, North Carolina 1987- Qualified for U.S. Open in first Grand Prix tournament (d. Ulf Stenlund 1st Rd.); Quarterfinalist at Raleigh Challenger. Played for two years at the University of North Carolina after playing for one season at Mississippi in 1981. He was a three-time NCAA singles qualifier twice in doubles. Was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 1985 after outstanding season at No. 1 singles. Won the A.C.C. No. 2 singles title his junior year. Majored in pyschology and graduated following the completion of his eligibility in 1985. Won the North Carolina state high school title in 1980. Was ranked No. 1 in the South Boys' 16s in 1978-79 and No. 2 in the South Boys' 18s in 1980.
