Federico Delbonis to face an in-form third seed Dominic Thiem in the second round
Main draw action at the Swiss Open Gstaad began Monday as the ATP World Tour 250-level tournament celebrates the 100th anniversary of the event in the Bernese Oberland.
Denis Istomin, who hoisted his maiden ATP World Tour crown in June in Nottingham, needed just 55 minutes to advance 6-0, 6-4 over qualifier Maxime Teixeira.
Federico Delbonis beat home hope Marco Chiudinelli 6-4, 6-2. The Argentine will face third seed Dominic Thiem, who hoisted the trophy in Umag on Sunday, in the second round.

Goffin and Zeballos are tied in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series 1-1. Their most recent meeting came in June in the first round of Wimbledon. The Belgian won that match 7-6(4), 6-1, 6-1.
Fourth seed and defending champion Pablo Andujar will open his campaign in the second round against Dusan Lajovic, a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Calvin Hemery.
In doubles, fourth seeds Julian Knowle and Philipp Oswald defeated Sergey Betov and Mikhail Elgin 7-5, 6-3, while Swiss wild cards Henri Laaksonen and Luka Margaroli beat Santiago Giraldo and Feliciano Lopez 7-6(7), 6-2.
