Llodra-Zimonjic Win Second Straight Title

Fourth seeds Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic won their second straight title, defeating defending champions and World No. 1 Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan 6-4, 6-7(5), 10-5 in the final of the Rogers Cup on Sunday. The victory gives Llodra and Zimonjic their eighth win in a row after the two claimed their first team title at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington D.C. last week.

The French-Serbian duo won 77 per cent of their service points and built an early lead in the match tie-break to snap a two-match losing streak to the Bryans. The Americans topped Llodra and Zimonjic in the Mutua Madrid Open final and the Wimbledon semi-finals. "Today I thought we played really well tactically," assessed Zimonjic. "I thought we had more chances even in the second set to maybe get a break. We didn't take them."

Added the Serbian, "But I thought that we played really well as a team, which is very important against such a team like the Bryans because you cannot win only by individual skills. They're great competitors. They have great hands. They help each other a lot. That's what we had to do today. I think that's what made the difference compared to the other two matches [when we lost]. For sure the next time when we play them, it's going to be even better for us to play as a team."

Zimonjic is now a two-time champion, having won the event in Toronto with Daniel Nestor in 2008, while Llodra hoisted the trophy for the first time. "We have some friends here in Montreal. Tonight is going to be nice. It's always nice to celebrate winning titles," said Llodra.

The Bryans were bidding to win their fourth title at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in Canada, having triumphed in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
