Jannik Sinner has taken a commanding lead in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin after the first quarter of the season as he makes his charge for the Nitto ATP Finals, to be played from 10-17 November.
Outside of second-placed Daniil Medvedev (2,550 points), Sinner (3,900) has more than double the points of anyone else on the ATP Tour. The Italian has been nearly perfect to begin 2024, tallying a 22-1 record with three titles.
Sinner, who claimed his maiden major trophy at the Australian Open and triumphed in Rotterdam, extended his lead last week by earning his second ATP Masters 1000 crown at the Miami Open presented by Itau.
The 22-year-old’s sizzling start to the year has also put him in good position to make a charge for the No. 1 PIF ATP Ranking during the clay-court season and, ultimately, Year-End ATP World No. 1 presented by PIF.

One year ago, Sinner took the Nitto ATP Finals by storm, thrilling his home fans by defeating Novak Djokovic in group play en route to the championship match, where the Serbian earned his revenge. That was the Italian’s second appearance in the season finale after competing in 2021 as an alternate.
Medvedev has not yet won a title this year, but his consistent play has put him second in the Live Race. The 28-year-old is trying to qualify for the year-end championships for the sixth consecutive year. He lifted the trophy in 2020.
Following Medvedev to round out the current Top 8 are Alexander Zverev (1,835), Carlos Alcaraz (1,700), Alex de Minaur (1,495), Grigor Dimitrov (1,465), Andrey Rublev (1,060) and Sebastian Baez (1,060).
From the current Top 8, three of the players — De Minaur, Dimitrov and Baez — did not qualify last year and De Minaur and Baez are trying to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time. Dimitrov won the season finale in 2017.
There are five players within 150 points of eighth place: Casper Ruud (1,025), Ugo Humbert (1,025), Tommy Paul (975), Novak Djokovic (910) and Hubert Hurkacz (910). The tight Live Race should make for an interesting clay-court season as the stars jockey for position.
World No. 1 Djokovic will be keen to work into a qualifying position to earn his place at the Nitto ATP Finals for the 17th time, which would tie him for second-most qualifications in tournament history with Rafael Nadal, only trailing Roger Federer (18). The Serbian has claimed a record seven titles at the event.
Although ninth-placed Ruud and 10th-placed Humbert are not in qualifying position after the first quarter, they have shown signs that they will remain in contention in the months to come.
Ruud is 18-5 on the year, including championship match appearances in Acapulco and Los Cabos. Humbert, who is pursuing his first season finale qualification, has lifted the trophy in Marseille and Dubai, marking his first year with two tour-level titles since 2020.
